East Kent College LLDD Facilities
The facilities have helped the College consolidate teaching within a single location in a learning environment that supports the overcoming of complex learning difficulties and disabilities.
East Kent College LLDD Facilities
A new extension & refurbishment project to provide greatly improved flexible teaching facilities.
East Kent College provide a range of facilities for its 11,000 students and 650 staff across a range of facilities including teaching and learning space, laboratories, office space and library facilities.
The modern purpose built facilities were the first of their kind in the area to provide a more welcoming environment for Learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (LLDD). Our project involved extension to an existing building with internal remodelling and refurbishment of existing teaching space.
Externally the existing 1960s building was re-clad and new glazing installed to create a brightly coloured façade along with a ground retaining structure to facilitate extensive landscaping and installation of a secure external sensory garden. The building considered sustainable design throughout & was carefully designed for the use of those with disabilities.
The LLDD facilities follow on from our previous work with East Kent College on the successful completion of the Pegwell Building (£1.2m). Also undertaken at East Kent College’s Broadstairs campus, the Pegwell Building provided modern facilities for their hairdressing, beauty therapy and child care students.
