Chartwell House
Chartwell was the family home and place from which Sir Winston Churchill drew inspiration from 1922 until the later years of his life.
Works to Chartwell were undertaking in collaboration with The National Trust and included the sympathetic installation of new heating and humidity control systems. The purpose made electrical heating system visually replicated a 1940’s wet system.
Great care was taken to avoid all unnecessary disturbance so that the rooms remained much as they were when Sir Winston Churchill lived there. Minor disturbance of existing decorations required conservation and replacement of original WWII wallpaper.
A further phase of works included the internal decoration complete rewiring of Churchill’s apartments and making good disturbed areas with period appropriate painting and decoration, electrical conservation heating installation, protection works, external repairs and external redecorations.
