Broomhill Bank School

Over 100 children with significant communication and interaction difficulties were safeguarded during construction.

Broomhill Bank School

Broomhill Bank is a coeducational Foundation Special School, located within the village of Rusthall on the outskirts of the historic town of Tunbridge Wells.

Our work at the school for Children and Young People aged 11-19 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan or Statement of Special Educational Need and who are unable to have their needs met in a mainstream school was delivered in two phases.

The first element of work involved the refurbishment of and alterations to parts of an existing residential block for children with significant communication and interaction difficulties such as autism, Asperger’s, pervasive developmental disorder, and/or severe specific receptive or expressive language impairment / disorder.

The second element of works undertaken included a single storey extension to existing classrooms, construction of a new single storey dance studio, construction of a new single storey changing room block and the replacement of sewage treatment plant.

Across the two phases over 86% of subcontractor spend was captured in either Kent or East Sussex in line with our preference of maximising local procurement on our schemes.
