Preserving the past for future generations

The south east is home to some of the UK’s oldest buildings and we are proud to play our part in preserving these for the enjoyment of future generations.

We are highly experienced in delivering within active heritage tourist destinations having completed projects at some of Kent’s premier attractions including Dreamland, Ightham Mote, Dover Castle and Chartwell House.

Conservation using traditional techniques, sourcing “like for like” materials and applying great care are common features of our heritage projects – like at Dover Castle’s Officers Barracks where sourcing Imperial Bricks formed part of a number of structural repairs.

Collaboration is another key to our success, such as at Chartwell House where together with The National Trust we sourced and installed a purpose made electrical heating and humidity control system visually replicating a 1940’s wet system – so that the rooms remained much as they were when Sir Winston Churchill lived there.

Attention to detail can make all the difference with restoration work. On the famous vertical sign at Dreamland, just under 1,000 original bulbs were reused to spell the name of the amusement park. Each of the eight letters contained about 40 to 50 bulbs taking restorers a day to rewire and re-solder one letter.
