The Sunrise Centre

State-of-the-art day centre for children with learning disabilities and their families.

The Sunrise Centre

Opened by double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes, the state-of-the-art centre was the first of its kind in Kent.

The Sunrise Centre is  a purpose-built children’s centre and respite care facility for disabled children, young people and their families. From the beginning families of children with learning or physical disabilities and carers helped shape the final result.

Facilities include a large hall, soft playroom, multi-sensory room, water therapy room, jacuzzi spa, computer suite and sensory garden. The vibrant atmosphere in the water therapy room is created by two specially commissioned murals featuring tropical fish.

The project was made possible by Kent County Council, children’s charity Barnardo’s, the Wooden Spoon (the charity of British rugby) and the Kent and Medway Strategic Health Authority.
