Firetite Clay Foam Insulation

Firetite Clay Foam cavity wall insulation has been installed at a 1960's sheltered housing scheme for Enfield Council. Richard Barwick of Coombs and Partners was Enfield's ‘in house’ Project Manager working alongside Econ Building Products (supplier) and Site Sealants Group (installer).

This was the first time that Firetite had been used in the UK, although well established in mainland Europe. Enfield's priority was to improve the thermal performance, airtightness and fire integrity of these post war properties. Following this first installation of 48 flats, two further schemes followed, another sheltered scheme and five general needs blocks. Wherever necessary, failed mineral wool insulation was removed prior to installation of Firetite.
