10 – 11 Burgate Lane

LABC Building Excellence Awards “Best Housing Development” category finalist

10 – 11 Burgate Lane

This scheme in the heart of Canterbury city centre involved the demolition of an existing 2 storey building and construction of new mixed use development of 24 residential studio apartments above a ground floor restaurant.

The attributes of the site including a very sensitive location next to the historic city wall, archaeological issues, poor access and confinement by two existing occupied buildings either side combined with the need for fast-track construction led to the use of a lightweight metal frame solution.

The contemporary design scheme provides attractive accommodation for students and young professional workers. The quality of 10 – 11 Burgate was recognised as a finalist in the LABC Building Excellence Awards “Best Housing Development” category.

Over 80% of the subcontractors used were Kent based, with four being based with 2-miles of the site therefore maximising the benefit of the project to the local area.

We have delivered a number of schemes on behalf of Rogate including Groom Way, Lenham; Queens Road, Ash and Radnor Mill, Sandgate.
